Six years ago, working in Washington, D.C. in the summer heat, Kevin watched a staffer run into a very important meeting - soaked in sweat. His shirt was two different colors, sticking to him, and all-around terrible looking. It was unflattering to an up and coming statesman. An hour later when his shirt was finally dry, it was wrinkled and disheveled. This was right around the time performance polo shirts started to become popular in golf and tennis. The idea for a moisture wicking dress shirt was born. Around that same time, Web was living and working in Connecticut, Boston, Providence, Onset Bay, and Newport. The east coast shaped him quite a bit, you could say. He brings that influence to Mizzen+Main. Mizzen+Main donates a percentage of all shirts to wounded veterans and their families and is pioneering an innovative job experience program for veterans called "A Shirt for a Start".
Mizzen+Main is officed in Dallas, Texas and Columbus, Ohio. Dallas is no stranger to high fashion. Columbus was recently named the third leading city in the U.S. for fashion design and e-commerce by The Atlantic.
Kevin Lavelle has spent his career dealing in numbers, strategy, and technology and never expected to start a fashion e-commerce company. The idea for this revolutionary product has stayed with him since that hot summer day in Washington many years ago, and after studying the market and finding no such thing as a moisture wicking dress shirt, Kevin decided to do something about it. He is an entrepreneur at heart. Kevin is enormously grateful for the support of his wife and partner in Mizzen+Main, Jen. He wore a Mizzen+Main shirt to their wedding.

Web Smith similarly left the corporate scene to start his first company, an apparel and lifestyle brand in Austin, Texas. That company was acquired by a larger conglomerate in Arizona after two years in operation. Soon after, he moved his wife and daughter to Columbus, Ohio to handle marketing for one of America's great e-commerce companies. Rogue Fitness is the leading manufacturer of American made fitness equipment and a leading supplier to military bases, gyms, and homes internationally. Web was immediately sold on Kevin's vision, skill, and the business synergy between the two of them. His wife, Lindsey, and his daughter, Alexis, are his support team and his absolute greatest assets.
